    Wat Phra Brommathat Thung Yang or Wat Phra Borommathat is situated in the middle of Thung Yang Sub District, Laplae District, Uttaradit Province. It is an ancient temple enshrining Phra Mahathat of Thung Yang town. An ancient city since the pre-Sukhothai period. According to the legend of building this place, Somdej Phra Maha Thammaracha Lithai, Ruler of Sukhothai had invited the relics of the Lord Buddha to be preserved in an underground cave by digging into a cave and forming the relics. The original appearance of the Phra Borommathat Muang Thung Yang Khong was in the form of Phum Khao Bin Chedi.
