#Thailand#Kalasin#Kamalasai#Attraction It is the largest chedi in the city of Fa Daet Song Yang (ancient city in the Khmer period, now only the remains of clay bricks remain), which the villagers believed to be the relics containing the ashes of the elders that the townspeople respected. It is therefore called Phra That Ya Khu ("Yaku" in Isan language, meaning the elder monks in the temple) and because it is the only place in Fa Daet City that has not been destroyed by Chiang Som, who won the war. Therefore, it is an ancient place that is still in perfect condition.
There is evidence that each part of the relics was built in 3 eras, with the rectangular base indented during the Dvaravati period. Next up is the octagonal base, built in the Ayutthaya period. As for the bell body and the top part, it was built during the Rattanakosin period. Around the Phra That, they found a parapet carved in reliefs about the Buddha's history.
In May of every year Villagers will hold a Bun Bang Fai festival to pray for rain and bring peace to the village.
