In the past, the area of Wat Bang Khanun used to be very prosperous. After Ayutthaya was broken, there were political asylum lords who came to stay at this temple and jointly restored during the reign of King Rama I Important things within the temple are the Phra Ubosot, Ho Trai in the middle of the Sangked water and a medicinal stone for crushing traditional medicine. There are also many books about traditional medicine textbooks. There is also a textbook of seven picture scriptures. It is assumed that it was built during the reign of King Rama I. Ancient medical textbooks, legal texts and astrology texts were built during the reign of King Rama VI to the reign of King Rama VII. Currently, only some are left and there are still pulpits or single seat for monks to preach during the late Ayutthaya period with many important historical evidences, Wat Bang Khanun was registered as a National Historic Site in 1998.
